Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before sliding over the escape zone, and was blessed to avoid just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, turning around through the fast downhill corner before the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
